Should have picked up the gate if it was worth anything! And the driver would not of backed over it.

Should not blame other people for your messy yard.

You have kids put them to work and pick up or fix the gate. Hope you learned your lesson and will pick your stuff up.

Amerigas Propane Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Terrible company to deal with. Calls to the local office go unanswered. Multiple messages left and no return call. Call center is impossible to get through to. This company does not care about its customers! Propane tank is now empty and has been for two weeks. One call a day, 5 days a week for 2 weeks and still have been unable to speak to an actual human being, just voice recordings.

TANK RENTAL

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

In the past my tank rental was free based on the amount of gas I buy. Now, I just found out that the tank rental is charged annually regardless of the amount of gas purchased. The contract states that they can change the rental agreement without notice. AND, they charged it without notice! Just sent a bill with no explanation of the change.

I called and there is nothing I can do because that was a company wide decision. I ask if that is how they treat customers that stay with them when they could not supply gas and would not even answer the phone. I am changing suppliers.

My commercial account did not change!

Look, I hate AmeriGas just as much as the next guy, but this isn't AmeriGas' fault...it's yours for not reading the Terms & Conditions. Be mad at their customer service or whatever, but don't try to blame them for your mistake of blindly signing a contract.

They were well within their means to do it. You should have read the fine print.

There is 1 effective strategy: Buy your own tank.

Overpriced

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Americas is charging $2.00 more per gallon than all the other local companies around here. They are a ripoff! We also asked them to give us 100 gallons due to the high price. The office lady said she would let the driver know. What does the driver do? Fill it up. I wouldn't refer this company to anyone. They also offered for us to pay for ameri-loc for $150.00 a year. We would then be guaranteed to only have to pay $3.00. Again propane prices are on $2.39 right now. After I called them on it they offered to give me the quoted price from the other local companies. Too late!

Amerigas left tank sitting on our Property for 9 years...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Amerigas left tank a sitting on our property for 9 years after I requested they come and pick it up because we no longer used propane. Last month Suburban Propane, who evidently bought out Amerigas finally came to pick up the tank. Today I get a bill in the mail stating that there was 299.85 worth of propane in the tank (using the 1.99/gal we paid in 2005 when it was last filled) that would be credited to us, 17.24 in sale tax and 4.50 in municipal tax that would also be credited... following those credits were 2 charges one for 175.00 called a restocking fee and the other a 12.69 sale tax... This seems like slimy business to me. First off, they are getting the propane back and will resell at today's price so why am I not being credited today's price? Second, your tank sat on my property having to be mown around and *** whacked because you didn't come to get it the 5-10 times I called over the years to request you come to get it and now you are going to charge me a restocking fee? Third, tax me on a restocking fee? Really? *sigh* I hate big business.

Bought a house with a 500 gal Amerigas owned tank in the ground.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought a home with a 500 gallon propane tank in the ground. The tank had no label or contact info of any kind on it.

I called around and Amerigas claims it was theirs. I asked if they could prove it and they literally would not produce any proof. I needed propane and other gas companies refused to fill this one unless I could prove ownership so I let Amerigas fill it. The pricing is exorbitant and they are terrible about transparency on pricing.

The rep claims the price contains all kinds of things that are above and beyond just the cost of the propane.

The bottom line is if you are buying a house and there is a propane tank already there then you should investigate ownership of the tank and do your best to avoid getting locked into Amerigas. I have called around the local area (VA) and they are by far the highest priced on a per gallon basis.

Amerigas Bandits - and - How to Deal With Them

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The following is the history of my horrible experience with Amerigas propane, and how I was able to remedy a terrible situation.

In December 2014 I was a customer of Amerigas. I received a fill from Amerigas (approx. 140 gallons). The invoice arrived a few days later, and, the price per gallon on the invoice was $4.289 / gallon). I called to complain about their exorbitant price.

They were very nice to send me a revised invoice, with a price per gallon of $3.799 per gallon. A bit better, but not much.

In late December 2014, Amerigas’ wholesale price was approx. $0.76 per gallon.

In mid-January I received another fill from Amerigas (approx. 140 gallons). The price per gallon for this fill was $4.059 per gallon. Amerigas’ price per gallon is going up, while their wholesale price for propane is going down.

In mid-January, Amerigas’ wholesale price was approx. $0.68 per gallon.

In mid-February I received another fill from Amerigas (approx. 200 gallons). The price per gallon for this fill was $4.329 per gallon. I called Amerigas to complain about their exorbitant price for propane. I was advised by the local Amerigas representative that “No - that’s the correct price, and you need to pay it.”

In mid-January, Amerigas’ wholesale price was approx. $0.86 per gallon.

In my estimation, a fair price for a gallon of propane during this period would have been $1.70 per gallon. That’s 2x their wholesale price.

By my estimation - the total of Amerigas’ overcharging is as follows:

Date Price/gal Gals Cost($)

====== ====== ==== ========

Dec, 2014 $3.799 140 $531.86

Jan, 2015 $4.059 140 $568.26

Feb, 2015 $4.329 200 $865.80

====== ====== ==== ========

Total $1,965.92

Valid Valid OverChg Total

Price Charge Per Gal Over chg

==== ====== ====== ========

$1.70 $238.00 $2.10 $293.86

$1.70 $238.00 $2.36 $330.26

$1.70 $340.00 $2.63 $525.80

===== ====== ====== =======

Totals $816.00 $1,149.92

________________________________________________

So how do you deal with a thief who consistently over charges for a commodity product?

The solution I came up with was to - Buy my own propane tank, and have installed in my yard. I can then fill it with propane from any supplier, and, shop around for a better price.

A new 500 gallon propane tank cost me: $999.00

Install cost was: $198.00

New pressure regulators were: $108.00

=======

Total cost (installed): $1,305.00

The company I purchased the tank from filled it with 425 gallons of propane, @$1.169 per gallon.

Total propane cost: $496.83

Total cost for everything: $1,801.83

So for less than what it cost me in propane for last winter’s heating season, I now have a new tank and a much cheaper cost per gallon for propane.

I cannot recommend strongly enough - Buy your own propane tank.

Shop around for the best price for propane.

And kick Amerigas to the curb - where they should be.

I agree. If you own your own home you should own your tank. They will try like *** to persuade you to lease because it is a license to steal and completely eliminates any competition

Dishonest, don't honor contract prices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Everything was fine for the first year of the contract. As soon as that expired, everything went to ***.

I was contracted at Local Area Index +30 cents. I use in excess of 3,000 gallons/year. The first bill after the contract expired (when prices had been ~1.85), I was bill almost $5/gallon. I called, they "fixed" it....

except it wasn't fixed. They kept delivering, I kept getting billed at nearly $5/gallon and they kept "fixing" it. "Fixing" it amounted to screwing it up worse, mostly, or billing me at nearly 30 cents per gallon higher than previously even though market prices were LOWER than they had been AT BEST. There were so many invoices and revised invoices and credited invoices that NOBODY knew what was what or why.

Finally, I got Ferrell Gas in here.

They told me the best they could do was 40 cents over Local Area Index, which (SURPRISE!) is magically almost 80 cents/gallon CHEAPER than Amerigas supposedly at 30 cents over.

So, now I'm stuck with a final bill from Amerigas for nearly $1,000, that should probably be a credit if the prices had been correct.

They're trying to send me to collections and their "Area Manager", Jack Martin, is completely ignoring me. He's the one who screwed all this up and the one who refuses to fix it or EVEN PROVIDE DOCUMENTATION of the price structure.

The worst company I have even dealt with!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We live in an apartment complex and didn't have a choice of gas provider, so we got stuck with Amerigas. Apparently, our gas meter wasn't working which nobody thought would be a good idea to tell us, so they were "estimating" our bills for almost 6 month. We got our first bill around December for $190, which was kind high for us, but since we never had gas or propane I figured it must be normal. My friends told me that they pay about $80 a month, and than I started thinking: our heat was set @ 75 F highest throughout the entire winter, we do laundry 1-2 times/month and, never indulge in long hot showers, don't use dishwasher; my friends did all the above and had their heat set at 85 F. When I finally called the company they told me about broken meter. And all this time our bills were getting higher and higher, we ended up paying $300 a month for something we didn't use and every month they kept on charging us meter reading fee of $10, when the meter was broken the whole time! I hate that company and will never deal with them again! They got so bad and our apartment complex received so many complaints, that they ended up switching to a different provider!

Rip offs...

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Called them, they quoted me 1.79 a gallon for propane. Never mentioned they added a delivery charge or hazmat charge. They said after that it would be 2.02 a gallon. I called them when I first got my tanks and asked about all the extra charges. They said it was standard. Everyone did it. Then I got my bill for the next fill up and it was $4.40 a gallon. I called around and the going price was $1.79 still. They said they were sorry but that was the price. I explained that was not what I was quoted and it did not matter. So on top of that they charge to come remove their tanks. So basically you have to pay and pay and pay. its not worth it to fight them because it will cost more in time and attorney fees than to pay them. Do not use them for your propane.

Tank installed given check exactly for what I was told to pay 12/27/13 252$ money order not check . Then had to pay 500$1/27/14 money order in person all these transactions were in person with money orders as I was instructed at the time.

Late fees after the final bill? How when disputed. 752$in month. I switched to suburban gas 161$ install and filled 85gallons after contract was up tank sat in my yard after suburban called them to take it.

Now I had to pay for that too. Don't like trust or will order again and refer Everyone else to suburban propane. There billing system way better not done by hand.

Not told to pay on the spot in cash .... Prove me wrong now !

Amerigas filled my tiny tank and sent the bill. OVER $441 because they charged $4.41 per gallon BEFORE GAS PRICES WENT UP. when I called they basically said, we overcharge everyone unless they complain!! My words, but actions speak louder than words. Shoddy company. Do business with ANYBODY else.
