We rented a house in July 2010, which already had a tank with some propane in it. Since we use gas only for two fireplaces, we did not need to order more gas until December 2010. The tank was not low; we ordered then just to be on the safe side for the winter. I...

Amerigas Account

Amerigas-come get your tanks, then you will get your $$$

When I received my last fill up mid-December 2010, Amerigas charged $4.94 a gallon. My home's heat, hot water & cooking all run on propane, which generally accounts for less $$$ per gallon? My home is roughly 3500 sq. ft. I know I signed a contract, but come on, talk about price gouging! I called around and was able to lock-in with a new company @ $2.69 for an entire year! When I called Amerigas in Colchester, CT, I asked if they could match/come close to the new company's price. The representative, Bev, said "no," and that if she was me, "she would switch companies also!" I just received a letter in the mail stating that my "account is in jeopardy and is in imminent danger of having all propane deliveries stopped and your meter locked off." Bahahaaaaaaaaaaaa! I have a new company, Amerigas, and I pay them in full each time they deliver. Did you know your empty tanks are still sitting in my yard? When you come and get them, I will pay my remaining balance. Until then, they make lovely flower planters!

My contract with Amerigas says they have the right to charge a late fee of one and one-half percent of the amount owed or $20, whichever is greater, yet they charged my former tenants $35 and $36 for late fees when they owed less than $400. ALSO, KEEP WATCH on your propane gage. They misread mine (in their favor) on BOTH ends!!!

Amerigas Account

In 2010 Amerigas delivered propane without notice or request.

We use propane only for a clothes dryer, so we don't need refills very often. I received a bill from Amerigas for a delivery I had not requested, but they said I had to take a delivery at least once a year. Their cost per gallon is higher than others I called, but the cost to replace the tanks by another company would have cost me more in total. This year I went with another company after not being able to get in touch with my local dealer or anyone else for that matter. I just tried again to ask Amerigas to come get their tanks, but now you can't even leave a message and the recorded directions are very convoluted when I tried to get to someone or to another machine. I had better service years ago before Amerigas took over our local company!

Amerigas ripping me off

They delivered $160 of gas for cooking only . Had a leak because of their faulty valve and they refilled without my permission and charged me another 90 a month later! They have given me the run around all month, no one answers my calls or questions. They said I was on automatic refill which is BS! I never asked for this, prove to me so. Show me paper work or a phone call stating so. DO NOT use this company. If I dont get answers by today I am getting 7 on my side and my lawyer involved. Martha Anderson

Amerigas AUTOMATED Telepay is NOT 24/7

So I am trying to pay my amerigas bill, and the phone number that they have listed as available for customer service 24 hours a day 7 days a week is for emergencies only. Their automated telepay line is also not available 24/7 as advertised and promised, but only during normal business hours monday thru friday. Unfortuately there are people who can't tend to their financial matters during the week and rely on 24/7 options (that don't include the use of the internet). And I do realize that the economy is bad... but if it's an automated service, why is it only available during business hours??? Maybe their computer systems feel cheated too.

Amerigas filled my tank without me asking

I have been on a will call for service. They suddenly come and fill my tank up when it was half full (and only so because their equipment was faulty and some of the gas escaped till they fixed it, I have papers to prove it) SO I call and they inform me that I am on a plan that just delivers when needed. I NEVER CHANGED MY PLAN! Now they are charging me 90 dollars and I just paid them 160 two months ago! I live in a rental, so I never changed my will call plan. The lakehurst office hung up on me once and I called headquarters twice already. They said the supervisor would call me and he says he did, and he never did. I have a full tank, I am moving in three weeks and I am being asked to pay another $90 for gas that escaped due to their faulty equipment and gas I wont use and they refuse to help me. I am getting 7 on your side or legal help, this is terrible.

Amerigas customer service is a joke!!!!!!

After a year of hearing false promises of working to straighten out a billing error, I think its time to fight back. Was promised an introductory rate of $1.69 per gallon, we had propane delivered and billed at $2.19 per gallon. When talking to the representative of Amerigas, I was promised a credit on my account and that the intrductory rate would be honored on the next order. Well what do you know, they knew nothing of this when the the next order was placed. More smooth talking and more promises. No action!!!!!!! Why can a company have so little regard for their customers. Because they own the tank, I can't get anyone else to fill it. So I'm stuck with *** service and a company that lies more than it tells the truth. I'm ready to convert to wood and tell them to stick the tank and service where the sun don't shine
