Amerigas in Baltimore, Maryland - Very poor customer service

I have called at least 4 times in the past several months. To set up a service on my propane tank. I was supposed to receive one a month ago. I never did. Fast forward the clock, Now i have had 2 major blizzards, and 3+ feet of snow and a fallen tree (blocking the propane tank)in my yard. I called Amerigas today, again, and explained the situation. There was nothing that could be said. The line is if the person on the other end of the phone had done there job. My tank would have been serviced. Now the tank is blocked. Thanks Amerigas for the great service

Our family has the unfortunate situation of only having the Amerigas company available to use in the Preston County area. We ordered gas on two different occasions and waited over 2 and half weeks with no site of a truck. The orders were placed prior to the recent...

To all the *** posting on this page, Amerigas did not let you run out of gas, your own cheap lazy *** selves did. Because you are too lazy to check your tank reqularly to see it was low or to broke to have the money to order when you should have you let it get down to fumes then expect Amerigas to drop everything for you!

They tell you to order with plenty left in your tank, especially in the winter when they are in the middle of their busiest season, but you do not listen! Then you run out and blame them.

They do have a forecast plan where they come out and fill your tank according to your usage and those customer NEVER run out of gas but that would require you deadbeats to have money available for heating your homes all the time but you obviously cant manage your finances well enough to do this so you go without heat.

Now really, who's fault is it that your tank runs out, the company that is in business to sell propane or the idiots who forget to call?

Get a life and stop blaming others for your stupidity!

Amerigas here, the franchiser, is supposed to check my tank - 500 gallon - on a regular schedule. The last two times I looked at the gauge the tank was at 20% and 10%.

Its supposed to be checked and filled on a predetermined schedule - it wasn't. I called the dealer who said they had a new guy on the truck in my area. She said they'd have a truck out "in a few days!" I'd be out in a few days. Heck of it is, the local dealer is closed on weekends and holidays so they can't be contacted.

I ended up having to call the national Amerigas hotline to schedule a delivery. They wanted to charge me for an "emergency" delivery. I told them like ***, this was supposed to be scheduled and wasn't. After an hour of arguing about it I got the surcharge removed.

This summer I'm switching to a local guy. I may have to pay a few pennies more but at least I'll be able to reach the guy when necessary.

Amerigas trying to get us to install their tank

I am leasing my home and have a 500 gallon propane tank that is owned by my Landlord. I had been using Ferrell Gas and decided to call around to see what other companies where offering. I called Amerigas they offered gas at $1.99 a gallon plus $25.00 off and promised delivery by Monday and free gas leak check. The delivery guy shows up on Monday he checks for leaks and finds a leak which I am thankful he did.He then calls his supervisor to check and see if he can still fill the tank. The Supervisor says no it would be a liability. He leaves and My Landlord shows up after we call him and tell him everything. He calls Amerigas to bring a part with them so he can fix it then we could get it filled. When the next delivery shows up he says to the Landlord that even if he fixes the leak he can not fill the tank. My Landlord is going to purchase his own new tank and install it.Well this morning I get a call from Amerigas saying so you are interested in buying one of our tanks? I said no my Landlord is buying one of his own. He then gave me attitude saying well he will have to replace all the system including the pipes leading to the house. It is obvious that they want their tank installed so we are stuck with leasing and stuck with their prices. I don't think so and after reading everyones complaints I am so glad we will be able to call around and find the best deal. Please own your own tank you will be thankful you did. Amerigas another customer lost.

All that was wrong was the regulator? Oh, that's no big deal. It's not unsafe for the device that regulates the gas pressure in your lines to be working properly or anything.

People like you are probably why Amerigas won't fix customer owned tanks. Do you realize the liability involved with that sort of thing?

Also, every single propane company out there is going to give you a cheap first fill rate to get you to sign up. They offer you a deal, and you freak out and say they're trying to scam you.

I don't work for Amerigas, but I'm glad I don't. If I had to deal with people like you all day I'd go crazy. People want gas for free and want it delivered instantly, and then make up tons of BS and cry like children when they don't get their way.

I CAN TELL AMRERIGAS IS ALL ABOUT TRYING TO GET YOU TO PURCHASE THEIR TANK SO YOU ARE STUCK WITH THEIR PRICES.I DON'T KNOW IF AMERIGAS CAUSED THE LEAK THEY COULD HAVE FOR ALL I KNOW. ALL I KNOW IS EVERYONE NEEDS TO MAKE A WISE CHOISE WHEN CHOSING A GAS COMPANY. THEY ARE DIRTY AND ALSO RISE THEIR PRICES ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE BUT LOWER IT TO GET YOU IN.

But whining on the internet about a propane tank WAS worth wasting your time on? They find a leak and try to tell you what needs to be done to fix it, and instead of being grateful you're complaining about it. If you want to go with a propane company that's going to let you catch on fire or explode, then that's your choice.

The price of propane you are charged includes many variables starting with it's a by product of making gasoline and processing natural gas. Have you noticed gas prices over the last 3 months?

Supply disruptions can be a huge factor. They can contract gas from a specific source but if they can't get it due to lines, shortages, allocation, etc. they have to get it somewhere else that almost always costs more.

Are you buying minimum amounts? If so, it costs as much to deliver 10 gallons as it does 700 so think about it. $130,000 truck, driver, benefits, insurance, etc. spread on 10 gallons or 700.

FINALLY....you can be SURE, the price you're quoted on the phone and the one being charged to customers are not the same.

Not sure about any of this to be true or fa lol so good or bad propane however the thought of dilluted propane is the reason I googled can you dilute propane or is it unconcieviable??? Not sure if this thread even solves my original ques/query anyhow I'ma gonna test my theory gonna buy a full bottle from the cheapest local distributor 1.69 gal and one from there competitor at 2.69 a gallon and see which goes further if there is one outside of the price diff. I live In a large R/V and it appears the cheaper propane i blow through or it seems i have to refill my 2 -23 gallon tanks far 2 often but before I can comment with any facts whatsoever ever I need some real ammunition I gotta put some boots to some pavement I will post up on my discovery about 1 mon or so give or take so till then happy trail bra!

You're getting a late fee because you couldn't be bothered to get off your fat behind and call to cancel anytime within the PAST NINETY DAYS when the program re-enrolled. Also, if you weren't automatically re-enrolled then you'd be on the phone complaining about paying market rate in the middle of the winter because you didn't lock in. Fat, lazy Americans can never be happy with anything.

I ordered propane in early January from Amerigas. They deliver 5 days after which is OK. Since my tank is almost empty, I checked every day to prevent run out. The day before the driver came, I saw its 10%. The driver came at around 8 am, and didn't ring my door...

Same here. I had 50% in tank and didn't need a top off.

Amerigas said they topped off with another 550 gallons - which only brought the meter to 70% and charged me over $1000 for it. So how does 50% of the tank (1000 gallons) result in only 20% volume but still 100% billing?

When they drive up, it takes a long time for them to get out of the truck to do the hook up, fiddling around inside the cab before they get out to run the hose. Somebody is getting our propane and we're buying it for them.
