Payment Options and cost
We were told on the phone that since our residence was owned by an individual with several properties using Amerigas that we would receive a discounted rate. They also told us that there was a 150 gallon minumum. When we got there, the man was rude...having just gotten back from lunch, and treated us with disdain and a condescending attitude. When he rang the order up, it totalled more than $325, after having been told on the phone that it would be no more than $280. It's a good thing that I had extra cash on me. The man then told us that he didn't know when the gas would be delivered, nor did he offer to call us on the day of delivery so that someone would be home. On the day of delivery, the truck arrived and after knocking on our door 3ith no answer, they left. Had our dog not started barking after they were pulling away, we would never have known they were here. We were able to call the dispatcher and they sent the guys back. This was at the Hernando, Mississippi location in November, 2009

Corporate Greed. Local Propane company feeds on the sick and elderly
On behalf of my mother-in-law, I would like to state that Amerigas can be officially labeled as a company that feeds on the old and weak. She is a two-time cancer survivor who lives alone in Howard City and is disabled because of her illness. She just scrapes by with the money and support she recieves. Amerigas came in without warning and charged her $5.84 per gallon, leading to a $1300.00 bill, and then offered her a package to lock in a rate when she called to complain. Companies like Amerigas should be boycotted out of business and their management should face criminal charges.

Way overcharged
These people are price gougers. Do your homework and call around. They charge $4 plus per gallon....when others charge $2.69. im so mad at myself for being suckered! We live in a very small community in GA. They hold some of these poor people out here Hostage. If you call for a delivery........you have to wait a week. One would get quicker service in a metro area. Plus then to add insult to injury by WAy overcharging the general publice. PLEASE stay away from these people. They are not ethical, consumer friendly, and are out to rip you off!

I cannot seem to get gas after calling for it.
I have been a customer since 1982 when you were suburban propane.Ihave never had any trouble untill the last six months. I never had to call for refills before now. I called on the 22nd of january for gas and now it is the 25th and I had to call again only to be told she (linda) would check with the driver to see why I wasn't delivered yesterday. I have a 500 gallon tank and use gas for heating and cooking along with gas logs. I cant see why it has become so difficult to obtain in the last six months. In the last 25 years I never had to call it was always delivered with out calling.

Let an individual charge propane to my name
I own a tank for the convenience of my tenant, my own personal heating is with oil. I have no account with Amerigas in the Hazelton Pennsylvania area. They took a phone call and filled the tank for my tenant and charged the amount to my name. They now insist that I am responsible for the bill. The tenant who fraudulently called to get propane for her personal use now refuses to pay saying the account is not in her name. The company has a notice in their records that the "tenant" called and requested propane. There is nothing in the records that I authorized or set up an account for anyone to have access to the account. They are sending this account to a collection agency to get the money from me even knowing that I did not permit or use their product. The only evidence is that they have a copy of the original receipt that I own the tank located at the property.

Amerigas changed delivery schedule practices
I had trouble last year with the new delivery practices of Amerigas and they told me it just had a few kinks in it and needed some time to straighten out. This year it is still the same. Previously, local stores set their own delivery schedule. I could call in and get gas within 3 days and never worry. They efficiently and effectively grouped their daily deliveries by area. Now it goes through a central dispatch and takes over 3 weeks to get gas. I live in a rural farm area but gas trucks pass by my house regularly to get to "standard" deliveries, with daily routes inefficiently taking them from one side of the county for the first stop, to the other side of the county for the second stop and for the third stop back to the first stop delivery area. With all the "green" and "conserve" flags let alone todays economy and rising gas prices, this is just plain inefficient. Amerigas need to allow the local stores to set their own schedules if they so desire. Such inefficiency by the "largest distributor" should not be tolerated by us, the consumer! We already pay tank rental and should be given the same consideration as the larger consumers and receive gas in a reasonable amount of time after call in. Three weeks is not reasonable. If we want it sooner, they have "graciously" allowed us to pay rediculously high expediting charges and get service within a week. Big Whoop!

Over Charged
Amer-gas topped off my 250 gal tank with 150 gals. i received a bill for a little over $600.00. This hit hard. My family had really cut back on our fuel in order to keep the cost down. We had resorted to heating our home with firewood. I contacted other companies in Chino Valley Arizona and found them to be around !.25 per gal cheaper. I brought this to the attention of the local company and was told that the price was now over $4.00 a gal. Flame propane was at $2.54per gal. This is the third time I was over charged. Once I was doubled bill and was told that I did indeed receive the exact amount twice in two separate tanks. Amer-gas is a rip off and all I can say is shame on you

Amerigas website and service
I've been a customer of Amerigas and it's predecessors for 28+ years. In two of the last three years I've run out of propane in the winter. They almost made it 3 out of 4 the other day but I caught it in time. To their credit when I did run out of gas they delivered the same day within a few hours. Each of the three times their computer said I was out or negative. How hard would it to deliver at 5 to 10%? This latest time the ticket said I was on my reserve, whatever that is, for almost three weeks. The website is a joke. Try to log on without the first four letters/numbers of your account number, try "contacting" via email without your entire account number. They want you to go paperless yet you have to call them to change something as simple as your email address so they can contact you when they are billing you. Who's saving money, it's yet another green joke.

Amerigas refuses to deliver until tanks are down to 35% !!!!
I called to see when they were going to come and deliver gas and fill the propane tanks. She informed me that they are now waiting until the tanks are at 35% full according to their computers. Why wasn't a letter sent out to customers with this new regulation. This company comes up thru our town and delivers to my husbands employer every month; you telling me they can't side track by 5 miles and fill our tanks. There is other people in our mobile home park that uses them also. People cannot afoord to wait that long. Just come and fill them once a month.

Having to wait more than five months for refund
After choosing another company that provides better propane and cheaper price, AMerigas just played with a customer that had been reliable for over ten years, always paying on time. Now they are holding oveer $ 300.00 of my money plus refuse to pick up tank and refund what is left inside. Constantly told a different story from the call center, even their supervisors. I have never seen or dealt with a company that runs so poor. The company are the people. The people are a poor example. Guess a lawyer is my next bet. They must think the general public are ignorant. I will let anyone know who decides on propane service in the future, who to stay away from.

Over Charged
.Today is January 5,2010 and my gasman just left. The price of this gas is outrageous 3.48 per gallon, when you call the office to talk to someone they tell you the manager is out until next week, thats their way of getting you off the phone. We need help in Wilson,North Carolina with Awerigas prices, peoples has other bills than this and with the unemployed rate in Wilson, and Edgecombe counties as high as it is the gas company should try to help peoples,it is no shortage of gas.Just their way of making money during the winter when they know money is tight, lets check around for better prices with others companies and see can Amerigas afford to lose 348 customers,

Amerigas Terrible Customer Relations
Amerigas has us on automatic delivery, Thanksgiving 2008 we missed a payment due to illness, they did not notify us of missed payment, although we have a telephone, and mail delivery, as well as cellphones. They "missed" a delivery in freezing weather, which we discovered when there was no heat and no hot water Wednesday afternoon. When we called for a delivery, we paid immediately on the phone, we were told that they could not make a delivery until Monday, we requested after explaining the situation and then agreed to make a delivery that day. They delivered same day, but charged $400.00 for emergency delivery. Can you believe that?? Freaking incredible, characteristic of thugs and thieves. Possibly preplanned?? I recommend not to patronize them.... We just discovered that Amerigas is much more expensive than other suppliers. We're changing suppliers..

Amerigas price gouging
Amerigas corporate policy is to charge their "locked in" customers their highest price. They have trained their local managers and use a formula to "maximize their profit potential" that includes how difficult it will be for a particular customer to change companies. The poorer you are, the more difficult the switch, the higher the price they charge you. My price was $3.45 until I checked with my local company and their price was $1.99 and had been all year. They charge everyone the same price. Amerigas would not pick up my tank to begin the refund process. They still owe me $380.75 that i paid in advance. Please DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH AMERIGAS. I was told 2 weeks ago, I would have gas in five days and it still isn't here!!!
The worst company I have ever dealt with in my life, how do they stay in business. People there are other alternatives!! We have been waiting for over two weeks and still no delivery, it's freezing in Kentucky. If your company is under staffed I'm sure there are lots of unemployed people who would love to have a job. Also, your customer service for the Kentucky area is in great need of training. Stop passing the buck and take responsibility for your mistakes. There are other companies that are able to provide propane to this area and we will certainly be giving them a call. You lost a good customer!!

Well we get calls about things like this frequently. If I could add to what ivlevinu2 said..
Most definitely sounds like out of gas situation, either that or he found a leak but if he completed it after it was probably just empty. That or being that you had to go pay in advance to office it could mean that you were actually locked off for non payment, which is same case you'd need to be home because interruption in service means it needs to be checked for leaks when turned back on for your safety.
I'm not clear on what you say happened. First off my experience would say ,if the owner of the properties uses Amerigas, than why are you expecting his discount? You will not get his discount unless he buys it on his account for you.
Second, the 150 gallon min purchase is not unheard of.Could the extra $45.00 be a cost to do a leak check because the tank was out of gas?
Third,You state the delivery driver knocked on your door before filling your tank. Most deliveries are made without someone being home,he didn't deliver, that's odd.You said you already paid for delivery and in all cases someone of adult age must be home for a leak check.By company policy,if an interruption of service has occurred, than a leak check must be performed. You did not answer the door ,he did not fill tank.Don't you think it strange, that he completed his job when you were home when he returned the second time?
