Here are your choices: Buy a new, empty tank and ielediatmmy exchange the empty for a full one. Cost, about $50 US.

Exchanges are normally less than $20. This option offers you the convenience of exchanging an empty for a full at numerous places. The downside is that you never know if you're getting a full tank in exchange. Lately, these companies have been downweighting what's in the tanks in order to keep their prices almost the same.

Buy a new, empty tank and have it filled at a service station that services camping trailers, etc., or a feed store, etc. Cost, about $50 US. Refills are normally less than $20. You're trading the convenience of easy, fast refills for the knowledge that your tank will be filled on a scale.

The normal tanks hold 20 pounds of liquid petroleum gas.

The downside is that you'll eventually have to have the tank re-certified that it's safe to hold the gas. Depends what's important to you.Good Luck!

I went to Home Depot and did a propane cylinder exchange. The propane tank had a $2.50 rebate form from AmeriGas on it. The "customer message" on the reverse side of the rebate form explained that Amerigas is no longer putting 20 lbs of gas in a 20 lb tank, instead...

Propane expands! those cylinders are usually at an outside location for a long time with temps in the 100s.

For safety it is federal regulations that those exchange cylinders are filled to that. It is not any companies fault they are obeying the safety laws.

How long is one cookout? You state you had eight (8)cookouts in one week.

Do you know how many gallons of propane are in the container size for the grill you were using? You should know what you had exchanged your old tank for. Cooking hotdogs takes less time than cooking turkey's.

Were you using sear burners and using the extended burner for boiling water for corn? How many hours use do you think you got out of the tank of propane?

And no Amerigas Customer Service...these complaints do not need to be submitted to you... you would like customer ID #.

..Very clever, let me get right on that!

Perhaps Mike Taylor can hire the right people for a change and stop being a *** making the same mistake over and over. FIX the company rather than letting it go to ***...maybe then these complaints would stop. Employees would be more loyal, and customers would be more appreciated!

HEY MIKE ....IF IT DOESNT WORK HIRING THE SAME TYPE OF PEOLPE....TRY A NEW APPROACH ***!!!!!!!!

Can`t get gas Co. to pick up their equipment. | Amerigas review from Reston, Virginia

First request was Feburary.( remove gas and tank)Amerigas Co. Murphy,NC. Instead, they removed regulator, removed gas line and added a gas lock. I then bought the property. tank is 52years old and has 114 gallons gas.I offered retail price for the gas at the time,$1.38 per and $50 for the worhless tank,(no regulator,no nothing ) Just tank and gas. They refused by no uncertain terms. I then requested they pick up there tank and gas.I requested again, and again, and again. Question ? How do I get this tank out of my yard? It`s been 6 months and no results. Thank you Irvin Hunsberger

Tanks built in the 50's (yours 1957)were great. Thick steel, heavy duty valve ports, strong legs...

It might need scraped and paint, but is a better tank than any new model available. (unless it sat under water or buried in mud)It is easily worth about $500.00 That is why your offer of $50.00 was rejected.

If you really want it out of your yard, tell the office that you smell gas and you are sure it is leaking...and that you are going to call the fire dept. It will be gone same day if you call early.

I used to work for the corp. call center..

Unfortunately there is no way for you to get the tank out of your yard.. some customers have been waiting over 3 years to have their tanks removed. There are 2 reasons for this.. First is that there is not enough man power to get all the tanks and they have to wait for the weather to break.

It also depends on where you are on the list. Trust me I took calls from customers who called numerous times and waited YEARS. The second reason is because they are more concerned about paying customers. Seeing as I was one of the reps who would start the pick up process I do have one suggestion that might help.

Call them back an dtell them you are doing some major construction/remodeling of some sort and the tank is in the way.

Based on my experience there that seems to get the ball rolling a little faster. Good luck!
