I have been with Amerigas for as long as I owned this house and finally I've had it for the last time. (1) They would try to do an auto fill when time after time I explained to them that I only have one appliance being the range, the service delivery was more than the quantity of fuel. (2) I explained to them to put me on a "will call basis" and now the $75.00 yearly rental fee is more than the actual fuel I ever use, and if I was past due...

I have been threatening to take my business to another propane company because Amerigas prices are sometimes double the amount of other propane companies in my area but, it is so difficult because of so many fees charged to have the tank removed. I have to laugh when the manager explains to me why Amerigas prices are so much more than their competitors. Really!!! I think its time I *** the bullet, pay the cost to have the tank removed after...

Took over six weeks to get my propane tank refilled ( have been a paying customer for over 15 years). The first time, the delivery guy did not call ahead like they had promised, just showed up, I was at work, so he permanently canceled the delivery order! Numerous mistakes but not one apology. Couldn't find more surly employees anywhere. No such thing as "customer service"! Worst policy is that they will not give you a delivery time (8 hr...

Amerigas Customer Care Review

I never write reviews, but I spoke with an Amerigas customer service rep yesterday and I'm still bothered by my experience. This representative was extremely unhelpful, rude and treated me like I was an *** until she finally realized her misunderstanding and then still wasn't the least but helpful. I will be patronizing other propane companies from now on. That was ridiculous. Steer clear.

Too many charges, fees, price gouging for gas. Only had Amerigas one year and the price per gallon was quoted as $1.89/ gal after their $69.99 fee to lock in. Neighbor was quoted $2.20/ gal after lock in fee. Another neighbor was quoted $1.59/ gal. Received a bill for $145 for tank rental. Called a competitor and was given a quote of $99/gal for first fill and $1.39 for a full year, no fee to lock in, no tank rental fee. No brainer, we...

I purchased first "country home" early 2001. I was told "you own your own tank" by the home sellor and her Realtor. Really didn't understand the significance. Home sellor praised Amerigas delivery service and so I kept it. Was working and did not even note or question the cost/gallon. After retirement, 2/5/15, got invoice for filling of $1,938. Price/gallon of $4.569. I checked Hunt Country propane. Their price was $1.849/gallon! I...

Anonymous I'm having a similar issue in Va. Amerigas trying to stake claim on our tank, despite no documentation to indicate they own it. Our builder told us we were free to use any p...

I called Amerigas and was quoted $1.79/gallon, who I have been a customer of for several years. They always ask for my address first & when I asked why they need my address to quote me a cash price their answer was "they want to make sure they provide their customers the best price possible." Friends had told me what they recently paid for propane so I had called those companies to get prices before calling Amerigas -- Ferrellgas...

Called Amerigas last fall for a fill-up. They charged me 3.79 a gallon. When I again need propane, I called and was offered .99 a gallon. When they came out to fill the tank, I suddenly had "an illegal hook-up". Mind you, the tank hook-up has been the same for 9 years. They refused to fill the tank. The tank has been out of inspection for years. Amerigas knows it, but never changed it out with an inspected tank. Because I am an "as...

I switched to natural gas 1 year ago and still have not ben reimbursed by Amerigas for the propane that remains in the tank. Now if I owed them money they would be all over me. I have called the local office several times and there is always an excuse. I called the corporate office in September, they told me someone would be out Oct. 13. Apparently someone was out, said they could not remove the tank or the gas but did not notify me or leave...

This company exemplifies corporate greed. I had an account with a small local propane company that always treated me fairly until they were taken over by Amerigas. Amerigas delivered propane to my house (and my tank) under the old agreement that I had with my old supplier and left me a bill for $4.85/gallon. The going rate in my area is $1.39/gallon. This is one of the most blatant examples of price gouging I have ever seen and I refuse to ever...
