Amerigas Customer Care Review from Hopewell, Virginia

I have been trying for the last 3 month to have my tank picked up after cancelling my account. In fact it has ony been scheduled twice. Tuesday 4-19-16 and friday, 4-8-16. Both times no one showed up or called. Only after I called did they tell me that it was rescheduled for another time. I will never use them again due to their lack of consideration and poor customer support. I feel because they aren't getting any money out of this, they are dragging their feet...

They are worse than what any of you have described

This company is absolutely the WORST ever. Worst customer service, and they REALLY don't care about anything but money. We received 3 bills for three different amounts for a refill that we didn't receive, and when we disputed it they then charged us a fee for not getting any refills. When we ran out of propane they would not refill the tank until we paid the fee for not getting a refill, which they then waived. We got a refill, they billed us (read : gouged us) for the refill and waived fee. I paid the gouged price, noted on the bill that the no-refill fee had been waived, which triggered a shut-off notice and a bill for $170.58, which corresponds to nothing -- not the bill I paid and not the waived fee for not getting a refill. These guys make no sense. Idiots, incompetent thieves.

Absolutely true. They bill incorrectly, they take check payments over the phone that never go through, they apply payments incorrectly, and there is not a single person in the local OR corporate offices who knows anything.

Worst of all, they have absolute contempt for their customers.

Price gouging!!!!!!!

For 40# of LP gas, I was charged $276.23. That's $5.80/gal.!!!!!!!!

This is the last time they fill my tank! Oh, it's there tank! Other reviews say they charge $40 to pick up their tank! OUTRAGEOUS!!

There has to be a law for price gouging.  They're buying up all the competitors in the area and hoping customers don't notice. I'll rate them as 0.  I need 80 words so here more words.  Dishonest, cheaters ripoff artists, criminals, opportunists, useless, unproffesional......I think thats 80 although I could go on.

in maine it went from 1.89 to 8.99 per gallon and rising fast just in 1 month after buying a local company they claim its top teir oil but its not top teir its low teir

Price gouging, just paid $5.85 a gallon, $650.64, that encluded my Senior Citizens Discount of $2.18, HazMat Fee-T $10.59 and Fuel Recovery Fee-T $4.58, My brother in Ark. pays less than $2.00.

There is no competition in our area. Maybe its time Florida regulates pricing.

Death in family

father died in Dec. informed amergas in Jan.. I paid his pass due tank rental.. They did an auto fill in January. when I called to ask why they filled a tank that was already 3/4 full for a dead man. The service agent actually laughed so when I got mad she hung up on ME.... Well I own 4 other rental properties.. I will make sure NO new tenents use this company ever again............

Taking advantage of the Winter weather

Amerigas stopped regular deliveries to our house, even though I called and they assured me that we were set up to receive them. We ran out several times last winter, and again this winter we have run out twice. The first time it cost us $427 for a 100 gallon tank to be refilled, and they assured us that we would be back on the schedules and that it wouldn't happen again. The last time it was again not delivered and we ran out on a friday. I called and they said that we had a balance, but it wasn't even on the due date yet. They said they didn't know why we hadn't gotten the delivery, but they charged us $85 to check for leaks and $150 just to show up, and again $427 to fill up the tank. We wouldn't have needed an emergency delivery if they had just delivered it as agreed upon. The emergency guy came and he hooked up an auxiliary tank and then went through and checked for leaks. He said something didn't seem right, but it seemed like it was working fine and he left. Well, it wasn't working right at all. He had hooked up the tank to our original tank and turned that on, then not turned our tank back on, so no propane could go into our system. We had no heat or hot water for the rest of the weekend. Someone came out monday and turned it on and took away the aux tank and filled up our tank. He said that the dude never should have put the other tank on, he should have just filled our tank and been done with it. I called the office and got a message and was directed to corporate. I talked to a very nice customer service rep that could give me no answers at all. All she could tell me is that she would have management give me a call back in 3 to 5 days. That was a month ago. No call yet. We're switching to a different company. We've been paying $4.22 per gallon with Amerigas, and Tiger fuel is going to charge us $1.99 per gallon. There's no excuse that can explain any of that...

I NEEDED A 40# TANK RECERTIFIED WAS TOLD PERSON WAS ON THE ROAD WITH TRUCK I WOULD NEED TO LEAVE TANK I CAME ABOUT 25 MILES THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A PERSON COMES FROM OUT BACK TO DO TANK THEN ASKED IF I WANTED TANK FILLED WHEN FILLING THE METER ON PUMP NOT WORKING HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH GAS I GOT THEY ALL ACTED LIKE THEY DON'T WANT THE BUSINESS I WAS CHARGED 38$ FOR GAS PLUS 16 $ GAS 2.66$ TAX WHERE I USUALLY GET GAS CHARGES 30$ FOR 40#S THEY SENT ME TO GET TANK RECERTIFIED THEY ARE IN LAKE WALES HIGHLAND OIL THEY WERE BOUGHT OUT BY AMERIGAS I WILL NEVER GO TO DUNDEE IF NOBODY ELSE SOLD I WOULD SWITCH TO ELECTRIC HEAT RON GRANT

on 01/04/2016 i ordered a tank and bought a heater and paid for all of it.

They were unable to install the gas or the heater. After a while I cancelled the order, I was told it would be returned from head office, I called this morning and was told it was being processed !!!

This is not ok with me. I would like my refund sent overnite asap !!!

I am sorry this happened I was left with total elect which could have been damaged in a storm. I f I had received my refund I could have gone to another gas company.

Bad service

I had Amerigas for little over a year. In that time Amerigas did not set up my tank right.

It barely sat on the cement blocks I sat up for them. I called a year ago to have them come out to reset the tank. 6 months later I called again. They said I was on their list.

12 months later I asked them when they were coming out. They said I was on their list. 15 months I bought my own tank and called at 9am to have them come pick up their tank. Before I came home from work (the same day) they had come out and picked up the tank.

Really? to busy in 15 months until I ended my business with Amergas???

Amerigas bought my previous propane company. When my propane tank lease came due, the price was doubled. I called another company that was Ahappy to oblige my business. So I called Amerigas to cancel my contract, and requested them to come and take away my old tank. They left my old tank in font of my home for 3 months! All the while, I kept receiving statements for a service I cancelled. I have attempted to call Amergas to clear this matter. Even though I have been assured my account is clear, I have been turned over to a collection agency for the tank rental that they have taken back! I have nothing good to say about Amerigas

AMERIGAS SUCKS!!!

I can't believe how many bad complaints Amerigas has and their still in business. My experience with them was that one lady told me that they know when your tank gets low and they will send someone out.

That was a lie and we were without hot water and heat for a week! Then, right before Christmas, we called again to have someone come out which we were told that someone couldn't come out for 5 to 7 days even though their the ones that messed up and didn't send someone out when they "supposedly" know when the tank gets low. So, of course nobody came and then we got a bill in the mail for $350 bucks and they said "oops we messed up and we don't know why but you haven't been billed for the propane in a few months! WTF?????

Ummm not my problem you didn't bill me and I am not paying you that much money because you forgot to bill me! I have paid EVERY bill that has come my way! So, now it has been over a month and still no propane! Now they say that we are behind and they won't send someone unless we get current with our bill!

WHAT THE ***???? It's not my fault we're behind it's your fault you didn't bill us correctly! So, I called and told the lady my story and she said she will have a manager call me. Do you think that I have gotten a call from a manager?

NOPE!

I'm done with them! They can see me in court!

Going into the 4th week on delivery. Have been out of gas since last Thursday. 18 inch snow drive way is cleared. Spoke to the lady at the Grayson office and she just blew me off. I live 20 miles from the facility. Will be trying to contact someone from corporate office. Also will see about changing over to Natural gas. R. Perry

Worst of all, they have absolute contempt for their customers. I have spent countless hours arguing with them over the phone for things that I just cannot believe. If they were not happening to me I would say it is not possible. If you are thinking of doing business with this company, run, do not walk, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. They will make you crazy with their incompetence. WORST COMPANY EVER!!
