Amerigas Gas Tank
I have an account, they turned it over to a collection company for a 140$ and I had just made a payment the month before. The bad thing is, I have a lease on a tank for the next year and they acted like they were not going to get the money, on top of that I have to...

We use propane in the winter for supplemental heating. Our tank is always depleted by the end of the season, and we use only 100 gal.

This year, Amerigas came and replenished our tank, but locked our tank out tagging it as needing to be leak tested. Then they want to charge us about $50 for 20 mins to do the leak test. Have family member willing to do this for free. Amerigas said only they can do this.

We rent our equipment. Called local office, they say it is for our and their technician's safety as well as their liability. This is just another way to make more money. Not only that, but they don't even have the lowest rate around here.

If I would have known this before delivery, I would have canceled and gone with Suburban Propane.

I did write into Amerigas via the website. Just wondering who else has this happened to?

Amerigas Gas Tank

Amerigas in Reston, Virginia - Can`t get gas Co. to pick up their equipment.

First request was Feburary.( remove gas and tank)Amerigas Co. Murphy,NC. Instead, they removed regulator, removed gas line and added a gas lock. I then bought the property. tank is 52years old and has 114 gallons gas.I offered retail price for the gas at the time,$1.38 per and $50 for the worhless tank,(no regulator,no nothing ) Just tank and gas. They refused by no uncertain terms. I then requested they pick up there tank and gas.I requested again, and again, and again. Question ? How do I get this tank out of my yard? It`s been 6 months and no results. Thank you Irvin Hunsberger

Tanks built in the 50's (yours 1957)were great. Thick steel, heavy duty valve ports, strong legs...

It might need scraped and paint, but is a better tank than any new model available. (unless it sat under water or buried in mud)It is easily worth about $500.00 That is why your offer of $50.00 was rejected.

If you really want it out of your yard, tell the office that you smell gas and you are sure it is leaking...and that you are going to call the fire dept. It will be gone same day if you call early.

I used to work for the corp. call center..

Unfortunately there is no way for you to get the tank out of your yard.. some customers have been waiting over 3 years to have their tanks removed. There are 2 reasons for this.. First is that there is not enough man power to get all the tanks and they have to wait for the weather to break.

It also depends on where you are on the list. Trust me I took calls from customers who called numerous times and waited YEARS. The second reason is because they are more concerned about paying customers. Seeing as I was one of the reps who would start the pick up process I do have one suggestion that might help.

Call them back an dtell them you are doing some major construction/remodeling of some sort and the tank is in the way.

Based on my experience there that seems to get the ball rolling a little faster. Good luck!

Amerigas Gas Tank

Amerigas in Mesquite, Texas - Over charging

I am set up with perpetual full service. A couple of times I have been nervous as the gas level in the tank was less than 30 %. I have called the office, (Arlington TX) they were nice, but somehow I was charged emergency fees. Each time I was immediately credited the difference but I only need gas 3 or 4 times a year. I guess my current credit of almost $100 will sit on the books until Nov 2009 when the tank rental is due. I am disappointed that my letter has not been answered.1 2 3 4 5

You have nothing good to say about Amerigas because they're charging you a fee you agreed to when you signed your lease agreement? Try buying more propane and you wouldn't be charged a rental.

Or stop being a cheap skate and buy your own tank and then see how you like the expenses of maintaining it. I guess they should just do that for you for free while you never buy any gas, right? Because propane companies are meant to be charities. Right.

What a ***, you got out of paying a fee you should've been getting charged for years and now you're complaining. They should retroactively charge you for it as a form of ***-tax.

First, I don't work for Amerigas. I'm just an impartial middle man who actually sees these complaints for what they are, childish whining BS.

Notice how people with legitimate complaints don't get made fun of on this website. I guarantee you were not locked in at $3.45. Market rates can get that high in the winter time, but the highest lock-in rates even in 2008-2009 when propane prices were higher than they are now were in the $2.60 - $2.70 range.

There is absolutely no way you were locked in at $3.45. Maybe if you'd stop *** long enough for someone at the company to explain things to you, you'd understand a little better.
